This is somewhat similar to the false consensus effect. Thomas Carlyle is stating when society simply follows what everyone else says, it is not true. Everyone must still be individuals with one's own opinion, not what everyone else believes.

"Education is simply the soul of a society as it passes from one generation to another"--Gilbert Keith Chesterton
This aphorism states how education is a necessity to life and is essentially, what brings our society and generations together as one. It is what interconnects generation to generation, passing along information and teaching the young.

"Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it"-Confucius
This is stating how our world is beautiful, and so is everything that is contained in it. However, it is one's perception that ultimately decides whether something is beautiful as a whole or not. It's one's subjective opinion of beauty that will determine what is beautiful; thus, one does not have the right to decide what is ugly/beautiful. You can see the part of something that contains beauty, but that is dependent on how you perceive it.
